Ongoing COVID-19 Response

UPDATED: March 10th, 2021

We have been diligently staying up to date with ever-changing protocols with the City of Long Beach alongside our wonderful partners at Bixby Village Golf Course.  At this time we are still cleared to keep operations running at a capacity of 7:1 student to instructor ratio.  The good is, as most of you know, we typically run our classes, lessons, and camps within a 3:1 or 6:1 ratio.  This allows us to maintain a low risk of injury but most importantly a high degree of individual attention for each student.  We are ready for another great summer and know that many kids are itching to be able to get out of the house and play some golf!  We are excited to be able to continue to offer a safe option for families to keep their kids active, off the couch, and outdoors for some much needed social interaction with their peers.

We will still be maintaining the same protocols for health and safety of our staff, students, and families.  Screening questions upon arrival, masks worn at all times, social distancing where appropriate and a private hand washing station for students.

Stay safe and we hope to see you at TGA Golf Academy this Spring & Summer!

I’m sure most of you received the “amber alert” that came through yesterday from local health officials. In the midst of much confusion surrounding what is open and what is allowed, we want to make sure everyone knows our #1 priority is the safety of our students, families, and staff.

The Long Beach Health Department has issued updated protocols for Golf Courses, Youth Sports Programs, and Day Camps under the guidance of the new California health orders. This is something we monitor closely since we fall under all three in some instances. According to these documents we are still able to operate based on the precautions we already have in place which satisfy their recommendations.

We are pleased to say… our weekly lessons & classes are still operating as scheduled AND our WINTER BREAK CAMPS are open for registration and, as of right now, we do not foresee any issues being able to run as planned.  (more info to come on these offerings)

Our staff will be diligent is asking screening questions to ensure your household has not experienced any COVID-19 Symptoms or come in contact knowingly with anyone that has been exposed. Please take note that even though we are asking these questions, simply by entering the premises you are stating that the answer is “no.”

Finally, we do ask that you keep your child home if they have any signs of illness just to be safe.

Our continued commitment to public health and safety includes the following measures:

  • Private hand washing station for TGA Golf Academy students
  • Separate entrance for TGA Golf Academy students away from the public golf course
  • Masks worn at all times by staff
  • Rental equipment cleaned and sanitized after each use
  • Social distancing measures during drills and while at the practice facility
  • Question screening upon arrival to ensure no symptoms

Our goal is to continue offering an outlet for children to play in a safe environment outdoors for their own physical, emotional, and social well-being. Thank you in advance for you support and for following our safety guidelines.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly.

Sincerely,

TGA Golf Academy

Based on CDC and health guidelines, we are ready to provide a much needed sense of normalcy to everyone’s lives.  To us this means Summer Camps at Bixby Village Golf Course in Long Beach are back in operation for the summer!  Here are some of the precautions we are taking in order to ensure the safety and health of our students, coaches, and families.

You can see available weeks and register here.

For Campers:

  • Limited registration openings to allow for physical distancing
  • Minimize equipment sharing during camp weeks
  • Frequent breaks to wash hands at our private portable sink
  • Smaller groups for skill stations and on-course play
  • Increased physical distances during drills
  • No handshakes or high-fives, instead we will verbalize praise or bow
  • On course, no sharing of balls or tees (each will have their own to use)

For Coaching Staff:

  • Increased physical disancing and hands off instruction
  • Verbal praise instead of high-fives and handshakes
  • No handling of campers equipment
  • Hand washing and sanitizing breaks
  • Hitting nets, hitting mats, practice balls, and all other “shared equipment” will be cleaned after each group station
  • Rental equipment (if supplied) will be sanitzed at the end of each day and labeled for use by the same camper all week.

For the Course:

  • Flag sticks, ball washers, etc will not be touched or used by any patrons
  • Benches, handrails, tables, etc will be disinfected throughout the day
  • TGA Golf Camps will have our own dedicated space away from the other public patrons playing each day.

Just like you, we continue to watch the effects of the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across the globe, and in our community. We hope for your well-being and wish for a speedy end to this hardship as we are eager to return to serving you.

We are actively working with our public officials, school administrators, and facility partners to resume TGA programs as soon it is safe to do so. Each local state government is determining when shelter in place and social distancing mandates will be lifted, and when they do, we will be ready to bring sports back! Please continue to visit this page for updates.

And finally, in an effort to keep kids moving, playing and learning, we’ve offering online content that you can follow at-home including instructional videos from our coaches, exercises, drills and games that can be done with or without equipment, for the whole family to enjoy.
