Fun Facts About the Ricoh Women’s British Open

Our team at TGA of Los Angeles can’t think of a better way to kick off August than the Ricoh Women’s British Open. Four days of first-class golf at one of the premier courses in the world? Count us in!

Ricoh Women's British Open

1) The champion isn’t the only woman who takes home an award at this major. The Smyth Salver is awarded to the leading amateur who completes all 72-holes.

2) All of the world’s top ten ranked players will be in the field this weekend, including defending champion I.K. Kim from Korea.

3) The Women’s British Open boasts the most international field of the five majors, with almost 30 different nations present in the field.

4) Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England is hosting the 2018 tournament. Located next to the sea, players will have to cope with wild winds by hitting  lower, more accurate shots.

2018 has already seen some epic finales to the majors (Ariya Jutanugarn’s near epic collapse while closing out the US Women’s Open, Park Sung-hyun winning a three-way playoff to claim the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and Pernilla Lindberg surviving an eight-hole playoff at the ANA Inspiration) so don’t miss out on the Women’s British Open by tuning into NBC Sports and the Golf Channel from August 2 – 5.

While we don’t know who’s going to win the tournament, we do know that all TGA golfers are champions. Sign up for one of our upcoming enrichment classes to continue or start your child’s golf journey. All equipment is provided and all skill levels are welcome. Click here for more information.
