Player Pathways: TGA Rookies

TGA sessions are often kids’ first experience with a particular sport, and we pride ourselves on creating safe and nourishing environments for learning and having fun. Starting a new class, or camp can be scary, especially if it is the first event with a new organization. Even as adults’ new social settings can be intimidating. Offering TGA classes after school immediately reduces some of the ‘unknown’ as school is familiar territory. Summer camps are also great because the kids are so excited to be out of the classroom, playing outside and in motion, forgetting to be nervous!

As participants become more comfortable with the coaches, and TGA sessions kids begin a life-long love of sports. The most rewarding experiences we hear from TGA coaches and directors is watching the progression from a child’s first class to the end of the session. Parents notice as well, here are a few comments from some of our tennis moms and dads:

This was Jamie’s first experience playing tennis and taking lessons through TGA. He loved it! His favorite thing about the TGA class was the super nice teachers and friends that he made (his words exactly). He said his favorite thing he learned was rallying between players.

My daughter loved her tennis class. She is begging me for more tennis lessons. It was her first introduction to playing tennis. I liked the chance to let her try it without investing too much time or money. She’s hooked now.

My kids had a great time at the 1/2-day tennis camp! They were dreading going but when I picked them up on their first day they were beaming and couldn’t wait to go back the next day! They even wanted to do it again this summer! The coaches were awesome, and they gave out prizes each day, which my kids loved.

Great program! This was the first experience my child had with an organized tennis program and camp. Very pleased. Instructor Joshua was fantastic! Very personable, professional and friendly.”

We can’t wait to get back on the courts when sessions open up again, and we will make sure you’re the first to know when we can get outside and Keep Playing!®
