TGA of Southeast Michigan

Despite school uncertainty, TGA will have fall options

Our parent-child events will resume this fall

We don’t know what school will look like in fall, but we are  not yet comfortable with traditional TGA after-school classes in an indoor gym. We do know there is a hunger for after-school activities, and we’re working with our partner schools and golf courses to find some safe options for fall. Here’s the situation:

DEFINITE

— As usual, we will have three fall leagues, beginning the weekend of Sept. 12-13 and running for six weeks. There is a Saturday league at Maples in Novi, a Sunday league at Somerset Park in Troy, plus a Sunday league that rotates between Sycamore Hills in Macomb Township and Rammler in Sterling Heights. Leagues are for experienced players. We have two age divisions. The 8-10 group plays a scramble format. Players in the 11-15 group play their own ball, and the top three of four count toward the team total. Price is $149.

— We are also resuming our popular parent-child events. We have two options — Saturday, Sept. 12, at Sycamore Hills and Sunday, Sept. 20, at Links of Novi. These are great opportunities to spend an afternoon and evening with your child. Price is just $79 and includes 9 holes for both players, plus cart, plus dinner afterwards.

TO BE FINALIZED SOON

— We will be holding outdoor classes on school fields at some of our partner schools and community centers. These will be six-week classes. Most will be right after school, but we’ll also have some weekend options.

— For families that won’t have access to an at-school program, we will be scheduling programs at several of the same golf courses that host our summer camps. These will be four-week sessions, with a 90-minute class each week,  starting in mid-September. Likely timing is 5 to 6:30 p.m. Our goal is to provide options on most weekdays, so you can pick a day that best fits your schedule.

— We will announce the full schedule and open registration in mid-August.
