Are you ready to compete? First summer tournament is Sunday, June 23

Winners with their medals at a 2018 event

If your child is ready to test his or her skills in competition, our first summer individual tournament is Sunday, June 23, at Somerset Park in Troy, with tee times beginning at 12:30 p.m. We have three coed age divisions — 8-under, 9-11 and 12-14. The top three golfers in each division will earn a medal. Somerset is a very kid-friendly course, with six par-3s and three par-4s.

TGA’s goal in our tournament series is to introduce kids to competition in a low-key setting. All of our events are on weekends, and we encourage parents to caddy for their children. We also provide a scorer/rules official to accompany each foursome.

These events are not for beginners. Your child should have significant on-course experience and a desire to compete. But our events do provide a lower-stress introduction than most tournaments.

After the Somerset event, we go to Rammler in Sterling Heights on Friday evening, July 12. Next is Maples in Novi on Saturday morning, July 27. The final event is at The Myth in Oakland Township on Saturday morning, Aug. 10.

Entry fee is $35 per event and you can register here.

There are many other tournaments for kids, including local qualifying for the Optimist International Junior Championship on Sunday, May 19, at Links of Crystal Lake in Pontiac.  Click here to enter the Optimist event
