TGA leagues will start mid-May; parent-child events canceled; still hopeful on summer camps

Practice Makes Progress - Golf
TGA camps are scheduled to start June 15

As restrictions ease a bit and the weather turns warmer, here is the latest on TGA programs:

All spring enrichment programs are officially canceled. Of course after-school programs can’t happen because schools are not in session, but we also have canceled the programs scheduled for community centers and other sites.

Spring leagues will begin the weekend of May 16-17. Golf courses are open and we are confident we can maintain good social-distancing guidelines. We have a Saturday league at Maples in Novi and Sunday leagues at Somerset Park in Troy and a Macomb County league that has some dates at Rammler and some at Sycamore Hills.

Spring parent-child events are canceled. These are larger gatherings that also include buffet dinners, so these did not fit safety guidelines. Our next parent-child events will be in September.

Summer camps are still scheduled to start the week of June 15-19 and run through the week of Aug. 24-28. We are optimistic, but of course will wait for official guidance from the state before making final decisions. Our early-registration period has been extended until May 31. If you sign up before then, you’ll get a $60 discount for all-day camps. If we have to cancel any sessions, registered parents will be able to move to a different week or get a full refund.

We will be reducing our maximum number of kids per session and will be very careful about social-distancing guidelines, lunch procedures and frequent hand-washing.
