TGA of Southeast Michigan

Summer memories: An ace, new friends, new skills, many smiles

Summer flew by, but let’s not forget how much fun we had!  TGA welcomed 858 campers over 10 weeks in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties. Among the highlights:

— Carson Toth got a hole-in-one on the third hole at Glacier Club July 31.  He was the fifth TGA camper to make an ace.  The first was Matt Radtke in 2012 at Sycamore Hills. Then Brett Katzen at Glen Oaks in 2015, Jared Andree at Maples in 2017 and Nicholas Tanari at Bushwood in 2017.

— We had tons of fun with our Friday scramble competitions.  I don’t have a full record, but I recall at least 10 subpar rounds.  And there were so many great team names and  celebrations as kids formed a bond and learned how to play  as a team.

— Maples and Coyote campers got a special lunchtime treat as Coach Al gave his acclaimed presentation about veterans, helping kids understand the sacrifices made by brave men and women to protect our country.

— Our coaching staff included 12 former campers.  Thanks to all of our dedicated coaches, who ranged in age from 15 to 72 and showed the kids why they are so passionate about this great life-long game.

— And many thanks to all of our partner golf courses, including new camp sites at Hilltop in Plymouth and Glacier Club in Washington Township.  The staffs at Hilltop, Glacier, Sycamore Hills, Rammler, Somerset Park, The Myth, Maples, Coyote and Eagle Crest welcomed kids and families to their facilities and always greeted us with a smile.
