Many of you are likely familiar with the Carl’s Golfland “This is the Year …” television and radio spots. The commercials were created in 2017, but they are still running in metro Detroit and across the country. One of the featured golfers is former TGA student Riley Sauter, who says, “This is the year I beat my brother Ross!” and later adds, “I’m coming after you, Ross!”
Ross and Riley are varsity golfers at Groves High School and both are now TGA assistant coaches. I saw Ross at a class this week, and he said his family continues to get calls from across the country about these spots, since a national version of the ad featuring the Carl’s Golfland website is appearing nationwide on Golf Channel.
Riley made the initial pledge to beat Ross in 2017 and it still hasn’t happened, but Ross acknowledges that she came within two strokes last year. Good luck to both siblings in their 2019 head-to-head duels!
