Happy New Year! We hope you enjoy many memorable moments on the course with your kids in 2020. Here’s a preview of the golf year, from TGA programs to the professional tours:
NEW TGA LOCATIONS
— We are thrilled to expand TGA’s reach into more schools and community centers. In 2020 we will begin teaching at elementary schools in the Novi Community School district, Lighthouse Elementary in Anchor Bay, more Rochester elementary schools and the Shelby Township Activities Center. The Shelby class will be on Monday evenings in the spring, providing another option for students who don’t attend schools with TGA after-school programs. We also have evening and weekend options at the Macomb Township Recreation Center, Clinton Township Parks and Recreation and Chesterfield Township Parks and Recreation.
— We have added a new golf course for summer camps. We will be offering two sessions at Union Lake Golf Course in Commerce Township.
TGA BY THE SEASONS
Winter — After-school enrichment classes throughout the metro area, plus Wednesday evenings in Clinton Township and Saturday mornings at Macomb Township Recreation Center.
Spring — A huge schedule of after-school, evening and weekend enrichment classes, plus competitive leagues on weekends at three locations, plus parent-child events May 2 at Sycamore Hills and May 3 at Links of Novi.
Summer — We now have 10 locations for summer camps and 38 total sessions. We also run a series of four individual tournaments to introduce kids to competitive golf in a low-key setting.
Fall — Enrichment classes return, plus three leagues and two parent-child events.
December — Winter-break camps in Fraser, Auburn Hills and Commerce Township.
TAKE YOUR KIDS TO WATCH THE PROS
There are many opportunities to watch the world’s best golfers up close, and admission for kids is always free with a paying adult. Here are the nearby tournaments:
— The PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic returns to Detroit Golf Club May 25-30.
— The LPGA tour is in Grand Rapids June 8-14, Toledo July 6-12 and Midland July 13-18.
— The PGA Tour Champions will be in Grand Blanc July 31-Aug. 2.
