If your child is ready to test his or her skills in competition, our first summer individual tournament is Sunday, June 28, at Somerset Park in Troy, with tee times beginning at 12:30 p.m. We have three coed age divisions — 8-under, 9-11 and 12-15. The top three golfers in each division will earn a medal. Somerset is a very kid-friendly course, with six par-3s and three par-4s.
After the Somerset event, we go to Rammler in Sterling Heights on Friday evening, July 10. Next is Maples in Novi on Saturday morning, July 25. The final event is at The Myth in Oakland Township on Saturday morning, Aug. 8.
These events are not for beginners. Children should have considerable on-course experience and a desire to compete. But our events are more low-key than many tournaments and provide a great introduction to competition. We encourage parents to caddy for their children. We also provide a scorer/rules official to accompany each foursome.
Entry fee is just $35 per event and you can register here
There are many other tournaments available to juniors, including events sponsored by Top Fifty Junior Tour, Callaway and Meijer Junior Tour, U.S. Kids Golf and the Golf Association of Michigan.
Also, although the regular Pepsi Little People’s Tournament scheduled June 22-24 in Quincy, IL, was canceled because of COVID-19, the alternative Virtual Little People’s event was established, which allows junior golfers to play two rounds on the course of their choice, and with whomever they wish to play, between June 18 and June 24. Entry fee is $30.
Deadline to enter the Virtual tournament is June 7. All information, rules and entry forms are available at www.littlepeoplesgolf.com/registration.
