The Lee family earned two gold medals on Sunday, June 28, in TGA’s first individual tournament of the summer at Somerset Park in Troy.
Daniel Lee won the 12-15 division with a five-over-par 35, and younger brother Sam won the 8-under division with a 45. Congratulations to Daniel, Sam and all of the medalists!
Ages 12-15 — Gold, Daniel Lee 35; Silver, Ryan Denyes 36; Bronze, Will Horcoff 37.
Ages 9-11 — Gold, Taj Varde 41; Silver, Alex Valentich 42; Bronze, Dayton Reid and Miles Godard 43.
Ages 8-under — Gold, Sam Lee 45; Silver, Mila Sandoval and Catherine Crain 49; Bronze, Camden Trimble 54.
Our next tournament is at Rammler in Sterling Heights on Friday evening, July 10. We normally serve pizza and soft drinks after this event for all players and families, but we decided a large indoor gathering is not yet appropriate. So all entrants will receive a TGA cap (three available styles in because so many kids have at least one cap).
The final two events are at Maples in Novi on Saturday morning, July 25, and The Myth in Oakland Township on Saturday morning, Aug. 8.
These events are not for beginners. Children should have considerable on-course experience and a desire to compete. But our events are more low-key than many tournaments and provide a great introduction to competition. We encourage parents to caddy for their children. We also provide a scorer/rules official to accompany each foursome.
