Happy spring! We have many opportunities for instruction, competition and family events. Here’s the lineup:
Leagues — We still have openings for all four of our spring leagues (Saturday at Maples in Novi, Saturday at Somerset Park in Troy, Sunday at Somerset and Sunday at Rammler in Sterling Heights). Leagues are competitive, not instructional, so players should have significant on-course experience. The 8-10 division plays a scramble format, while players in the 11-15 division play their own ball, with the top three of four scores counting toward the team total. A parent volunteer coaches each team, and all parents are encouraged to caddy for their children. Tee times are between 3 and 4:30 p.m. each week. Cost is $149.
After-school programs — We have a big schedule of events on school campuses and golf courses. Most are right after school, but some start at 5 p.m. and two are on Saturday mornings. These are instructional programs suitable for beginners. Returning golfers who are moving up to orange, red, blue or black level will receive more advanced instruction. Many of the programs on school campuses are sold out, but we just added new programs at two Plymouth-Canton schools and three L’Anse Creuse schools. We also have plenty of openings for programs at four golf courses (Somerset Park in Troy, The Myth in Oakland Township, Rammler in Sterling Heights and Maples in Novi). Cost ranges from $119 to $139 per session.
Parent-child events — These are great opportunities to spend a fun afternoon and evening with your child (or grandchild, nephew, niece, family friend, etc.). We have tournaments on Saturday, May 1, at Oak Ridge in New Haven and Sunday, May 2, at Links of Novi.
We start with arrival and warmup between 2 and 2:15 p.m., then clinic at 2:30, shotgun start at 3, then dinner following golf (around 5:45). Cost for the two-person team is just $79. Additional family members are welcome to join us for dinner for $10 each.
