TGA of Southeast Michigan

RIP, Coach Mike Holdridge

I am very sad to report that veteran TGA coach Mike Holdridge died on March 25. According to the obituary written by his family, Mike “passed away on the golf course after a frustrating double bogey.”

I’m sure Mike would appreciate his family’s sense of humor. He loved playing golf, teaching golf and working part-time as a starter and ranger (to earn free golf, of course). His golf jobs came after he retired as a sales representative for Nabisco.

Mike had been a TGA instructor since 2013, teaching after-school classes and many summer camp sessions at Hilltop in Plymouth. He always greeted kids with a big smile and passed along his passion for the game.

Mike was 73. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Holdridge, and two sons, Mark (Karen) and Kevin (Brigid), and grandchildren Charles, Quinn, Meredith, and Bennett.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bountiful Harvest Pantry, 290 East Grand River Avenue, Brighton MI 48116 (www.bountifulharvest-mi.org).
