TGA of Southeast Michigan

Happy golf year! Here’s to many pars, birdies and smiles on the course in 2022

TGA holds parent-child events every spring and fall.

Happy 2022! We hope you and your kids enjoy many special moments on the golf course this year.

TGA is here to help families on their journey to golf fun and success, with after-school enrichment classes, summer camps, leagues, tournaments, parent-child events and more.

Here’s a complete look at TGA’s offerings for 2022:

JANUARY AND FEBRUARY

Our indoor schedule is not back to 2019 levels, but we do have 23 classes scheduled in school gyms and community centers throughout the metro area. These classes are terrific for beginners and for more advanced players working their way up from yellow level to orange, red, blue and black. Students learn golf fundamentals, plus rules, etiquette and life values in fun, fast-paced classes.

If there isn’t a class at your school, we have several options open to anyone. There is a Saturday morning class at the Macomb Township Recreation Center, a Monday evening class at the Shelby Township Activities Center, plus Wednesday evening classes at Defer Elementary in Grosse Pointe Park, Liberty Middle School in Canton and Great Oaks Elementary in Chesterfield.

MARCH, APRIL AND MAY

— Most of our spring after-school classes start in late April or the first week of May, but a few get a head start in March. We will have more than 75 classes, many of them outdoors at school fields, parks and golf courses.

— Spring leagues begin the weekend of April 23-24 at Maples in Novi (Saturdays), Somerset Park in Troy (Saturday and Sunday options), plus Rammler in Sterling Heights (Sundays).  Leagues are a great way for kids to get a taste of competition in a fun, team-based format. We have separate divisions for ages 8-10 (scramble format) and ages 11-15 (high school format, where each player plays his or her own ball and the top three of four scores count).

— Our spring parent-child events are May 14 at Oak Ridge in New Haven and May 15 at Links of Novi.

JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST

— There is nothing like the magic of summer camp on a real golf course. TGA has camps every week of the summer except July 4 week at nine great locations throughout the metro area. You can get a $75 discount and secure your spot in the all-day camps by signing up by March 31. We have 44 available sessions, including some morning camps and three-day camps.

— We have a series of four nine-hole individual summer tournaments to introduce kids to competitive golf in a low-key setting. All are on weekends, and parents are encouraged to caddy for their children.

SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER

— Most fall after-school classes will start from mid-September through early October, with a few beginning in early November. A majority of these classes will be outdoors.

— Our fall weekend leagues start the weekend of Sept. 10-11 at Maples, Somerset Park and Rammler.

— Fall parent-child events are Sept. 17 and 18.

DECEMBER

— We hope to bring back our winter-break camps at three indoor locations between Christmas and New Year’s.
