TGA of Southeast Michigan

Looking ahead to fall: We have leagues, classes and parent-child events

Make some memories at TGA parent-child events

Registration is open for lots of fall programs — leagues, parent-child events and enrichment classes. More after-school offerings will be added later this month. Here are the highlights:

LEAGUES (for experienced players)

We have Saturday leagues at Maples in Novi and Somerset Park in Troy, plus Sunday leagues at Somerset and Rammler in Sterling Heights.

All leagues begin the weekend of Sept. 10-11 and run for six weeks. Teams will have a standard tee time between 3 and 4:20 p.m. for their nine-hole rounds.

We have two coed age divisions. The 8-10 group plays a scramble format. Players in the 11-15 group play their own ball, and the top three of four count toward the team total.

Leagues are competitive, not instructional. Each team will have a parent volunteer coach and all parents are encouraged to caddy for their kids. Cost is $149.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES (for beginners and all levels)

Golf courses: We have programs at Somerset Park in Troy, Rammler in Sterling Heights, The Myth in Oakland Township and Maples in Novi. Classes at the four golf courses run from 5-6:30 p.m. for four weeks and begin in mid- to late September.

School fields and gyms: Most of these programs are right after school, with one-hour classes for six weeks. Check the list to see if your school is included. Again, more will be added later this month.

Parks and community centers: We have weekday programs in the late afternoons and Saturday mornings. All are one-hour programs for six weeks.

PARENT-CHILD EVENTS (for family fun)

These are great opportunities to spend an afternoon and evening with your child. Price is just $89 and includes warmup on driving range, clinic, 9 holes for both players with cart, plus dinner afterwards. Events are Saturday, Sept. 17, at Oak Ridge in New Haven, plus Sunday, Sept. 18, at Links of Novi.
