The Benefits of a Noncompetitive Environment in Youth Sports

Fred Rodgers put it perfectly, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is the work of childhood.” This month, we wanted to highlight some of the benefits of play through a non-competitive environment: TGA Premier Sports classes promote a learning environment to encourage all children to play and participate. This instills confidence in each athlete allowing them to learn the sport and engage more with their coaches and teammates.

Practice makes progress, not perfection! During class, our coaches do not focus or use language that promotes winning or losing. In turn, this allows children to build greater self-confidence and improve at their own rate. TGA Premier Sports embraces the notion that every child’s skill development is unique to them!

Children learn more than just multiple sports fundamentals through TGA Premier Sports. They also cover academic learning and coach young players to make good decisions on the field, course, court and in life.  This unique approach to teaching allows coaches to communicate with children more efficiently in a playful language that children can understand.
